Send photos from the ground — get a realistic range
What to include
- Each slope of the roof, from as far back as you can stand, at zoom.
- The penetrations you can see: vents, pipes, chimney, skylights.
- The gutter line, and where each downspout ends.
- Inside: the stain, and the attic side of the deck if the attic is safe to enter.
- The age of the roof if you know it, and your street or ZIP.
What comes back
The likely source, whether this reads as a repair or a replacement, whether the scope would cross the code threshold that brings the whole roof up to current standards, and ranges for both. Expect one question back.
What we do with it
Read it and write back — one person, no queue, and no onward sale of anything you send. There is also nowhere to visit: no yard, no showroom, and an address on this page would be decoration rather than information.
If it is happening now
Contain the water inside and keep people out from under a sagging ceiling. Photograph during the rain if you safely can, from indoors or from the ground.
Do not go up on the roof, and do not accept an offer to tarp it from someone who knocked on the door during the storm. If a tree is on the house, or the ceiling is coming down, that is an emergency-services call rather than a form.
