Penetrations. Pipe boots, vents, the flashing where a chimney or a wall meets the roof, and skylights. Each slope from as far back as you can stand — a phone at full zoom is better than nothing and better than a ladder. Every penetration you can see. The gutter line. Then, inside: the stain with something for scale, the ceiling around it, and the attic side of the deck if the attic is safely accessible and lit.
